Andy Denson is a Black and Filipino-American actor, writer, director and producer based in Cebu City, Philippines. He is the founder and CEO of Ladder Production Films.
Raised in Colorado, his career includes work in the United States and the Philippines. Family, place, memory and everyday life recur across his films, performances, writing and photographs.
His feature films include Little Minds on the Prairie, a documentary filmed over several years, and Dead Musician Fan Club. His Cebu-based practice includes The Yellow Hotel, the travel series Travel with Andy, poetry, and research into regional Philippine cinema.
Through tropicalcore, he articulates an approach to cinema in which island life is the subject. Ladder connects that creative practice with the work of actors, filmmakers and other collaborators.
